Kurt Smith is the founder of Smith Legal Group and practices almost exclusively in Family Law as Lead Counsel and a dedicated Trial Attorney.

He also brings expertise in civil litigation, personal injury, criminal law, and estate planning, using his extensive legal knowledge and strategic trial skills to protect his clients’ interests both in and out of the courtroom.

Mr. Smith holds a Juris Doctorate from the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV.

Since 2007, he has been an active licensed attorney in Nevada (bar #10764).

Kurt holds a Juris Doctorate, along with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from UNLV with an emphasis in Management Information Systems. This combination of legal education and business expertise provides him with a strong foundation in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making. These skills directly translate into his success as a trial attorney, enabling him to approach complex cases with precision, develop strong legal strategies, and deliver results for his clients in a wide range of legal matters.

Prior to founding Smith Legal Group, Kurt Smith was an associate at a prominent national firm, focusing on civil litigation and insurance law. He also worked as a Project Manager for IBM in its Global Services Division, where he managed information security projects for Fortune 500 companies and played a key role in IBM’s globalization efforts, deploying technology solutions in Argentina, Brazil, France, Scotland, and India.

Kurt spent several years in the insurance industry as an insurance adjuster, specializing in on-scene accident investigations and accident reconstruction. This diverse background has provided him with experience in commercial litigation, personal injury, insurance law, corporate law, criminal law, estate planning, and bankruptcy.

With over 15 years of Trial experience, Kurt has built a reputation for his extensive courtroom expertise and a strong track record of success. His strategic and meticulous Trial approach has resulted in measurable victories for his clients across a wide range of legal matters.

Kurt’s practice is built on the principles of community and family, with a “children first” approach in all Family Law matters, ensuring that families and their needs remain at the forefront of every case.

Travis D. Akin, Esq.

Travis D. Akin is an attorney based in Las Vegas, Nevada, whose practice focuses on Estate Planning, Criminal Law, and Family Law.

Travis is committed to making the legal process understandable and approachable. His goal is to empower clients with the knowledge and strategies they need to make informed decisions while building long-term relationships founded on trust and respect.

Mr. Akin holds a Juris Doctorate from the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV.

Since 2013, he has been an active licensed attorney in Nevada (bar #13059).

Travis provides clients with experienced guidance and strong advocacy across a wide range of legal matters.

Austin Woo is a Las Vegas native with a deep commitment to his community.

Known for his dedication and thoughtful approach to the law, Attorney Woo’s practice focuses on providing clients with personalized, effective legal solutions.

His passion for justice and serving others drives his work, making him a strong advocate for his clients both inside and outside the courtroom.

Mr. Woo holds a Juris Doctorate from the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV.

In addition to his Juris Doctorate, Austin Woo also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Philosophy of Law and Justice as well as a minor in Political Science.

Since 2022, he has been an active licensed attorney in Nevada (bar #16155).

Austin Woo externed for the Chief Justice of the United States Bankruptcy Court District of Nevada where he gained meaningful experience in Bankruptcy Law and Consumer Protection.

Additionally, Austin worked full-time throughout his schooling taking on a variety of roles in the Gaming Industry.

Mr. Woo interned for the Caesars Accounting Department and was enrolled in the Master of Science in Accounting program at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. When faced with choice of continuing his education in accounting or accepting his admission into law school, Mr. Woo took the law school route on the belief that he could effectuate more change in the community as an attorney.
